The Eight Birth Moon Phases

New Moon (0–45°)

Born at the New Moon, you're a natural initiator who acts on instinct. Life feels like a fresh start, and you learn by doing rather than by planning.

Waxing Crescent (45–90°)

The Crescent Moon gives determination to break away from the past. You're driven to prove your ideas and build momentum against resistance.

First Quarter (90–135°)

Born at the First Quarter, you thrive on challenge and decisive action. You're a builder who clears away the old to make room for the new.

Waxing Gibbous (135–180°)

The Gibbous Moon brings a perfectionist, analytical streak. You refine, improve and prepare — always asking how something could be better.

Full Moon (180–225°)

Born at the Full Moon, you live through relationships and awareness. You see both sides, seek fulfilment and often shine in public roles.

Waning Gibbous (225–270°)

The Disseminating Moon makes you a teacher and sharer. You want to pass on what you know and find meaning in communicating it.

Last Quarter (270–315°)

Born at the Last Quarter, you question old structures and reorient your life when it stops making sense. Inner change drives you.

Waning Crescent (315–360°)

The Balsamic Moon gives a visionary, reflective nature. You complete cycles, sense the future and often feel older than your years.

How the Phase Is Calculated

The phase depends on the angle between the Moon and the Sun as seen from Earth. 0° is the New Moon, 180° the Full Moon. Our calculator measures that angle at noon UTC on your date; if you were born near a phase change, your birth time may move you into the neighbouring phase.
